kidney update

If you haven't read the last post about the kidney, go get the whole story.  

The good news is that this week's kidney tests came back about the same as the ones last week, so it is stable.  It isn't getting better, but it is not getting worse.  Baby is doing just fine and my kidney is doing its job, so no real harm is being done.  The bad news is that it still hurts-- a lot at times.  If the pain continues or kidney function decreases, baby will likely come early.  I can't fathom 9 more weeks of this pain (taking me to 42 weeks), but 5 or 6 weeks doesn't seem as overwhelming.  Dr. said that pregnancy isn't easy on my lone kidney and that if I continue to be in pain, he's comfortable inducing after 38 weeks, although it will increase my risk for a c-section.  

I'm fine to keep working and am hoping to work until the end of February.  Those are my plans... who knows what this little one's plans are though!  

I've been noticing braxton-hicks more and more recently, and definitely feeling pressure down low!  I can't believe how close to the end we are!

    Happy your kidney isn't getting worse and that your little one is doing great! Hopefully the pain doesn't get worse, sorry hon.

    I can't believe you may only have one kidney! I had to to a re-read to make sure that is what you really said! Well, you are certainly a special gal, but we already knew that :) I'm really happy that you are not having the shunt yet. I have had a shunt put in a few different times, and they were more painful than my stone. The doctors will tell you that it won't be, but it is. So, if you can, try to deal with the pain and let the shunt be the last resort.

    I am usually told to drink lots of water. My current urologist told me to not drink it if it causes pain. However, you are pregnant and I am sure it is different for you. I was so fortunate in that I only felt a little stone at the very end, and it was low in my ureter, and I passed it. I passed the large one right when B came home from the NICU. It was always a big fear of mine-to have a stone while pregnant. So I am so very sorry that you are having to go through this.

    One more thing...if it is a stone, there are support groups online for pregnant women with kidney stones. Really! I looked it up. So I am sure that you could go to one of those and ask them questions.

    Wow -- huge thing to have to go through while pregnant.

    I'm back after 6 weeks away from blogging. Delivered twins at 30 and a half weeks by c-section.

    Not ideal, but the boys are doing really well and should be able to come home from the NICU any time now.

I've been hit by overwhelming sadness.  My BFNs have destroyed me more than I thought possible.   The past seven days have been incredibly emotional and life changing in ways that have nothing to do with making babies.  We are now unemployed, moving, and filled with uncertainty in nearly every aspect of our lives.  As horrible of timing as pregnancy would have been with all that the past week has brought us, it was my glimmer of hope.  My hope that something good might actually happen.  The part about trying again has also been taken from us.  We can't very well put money into fertility treatments when we have no more income.  I think that is where it stings the most.  If I knew that we could just try again in a month or two, I think I would be handling this better.  We also got news, less than two weeks ago, that our donor is most likely done helping us.  September would have been the last month for him to help, but now I guess it's done.  We do have about 10 mil. sperm on...

Decisions Decisions

Today is CD 1 and we are going for the IUI next cycle.  I believe we'll be using clomid for ovulation induction.  I'm super excited, but still need to figure things out.  I'd love any thoughts, opinions, advice, etc.  As I've mentioned, we moved states 10 months ago, which has created some issues.  Our sperm is in old state.  My old Dr. said they can ship it to us, or we can go back there for the procedure.  We can do monitoring here, and just go back for the procedure.  Or, we can stay just stay here.  We really don't want to tell anyone what we're up to, so in that sense it makes sense to stay here.  On the other hand, I really like my old Dr. and I would love to have some time to visit with friends back home.  We have no trips planned to go back right now and I would really like to go this summer.  It would also be a welcomed escape from the oppressive summer heat.  I think I'm leaning towards going back for it, bu...

Phone consult update

Sorry I'm late with the update.  It's been one hell of a week.   On Monday, I planned to take J to baby dance (a free class!!) to help wear her out before her nap, so I would be more likely to have uninterrupted time for my consult.  We were running late, so I decided to take her to the park instead.  While turning into the park, a lady who wasn't paying attention slammed into my car at over 40mph.  We are fine-- just shaken up.  After waiting for the police to come and all of that stuff, I made it home less than 10 min before my consult was set to begin.  The little cutie was exhausted and went down easily for her nap, thank goodness.  But, my head wasn't all in it.   The Dr. was great, and gave me more info on the two vials we have in the freezer.  Apparently, there are only about 5 million sperm in each vial, so he would want to use both at once for IUI.  Apparently the samples didn't freeze/thaw well.  BIL has agreed to donate more for us, and ac...
